Last week, Apple announced its iPhone/iPod Touch SDK. The 1st and the 2nd game announced were: Spore and Monkey Ball. The built-in motion sensor of iPhone/iPod Touch is used for controlling. It's rumored that iPhone could have better performance even than PSP, because of its 600MHz CPU.
Besides its marvelous spec, iPhone's support to WIFI & EDGE network is also an advantage for mobile online game app. iPod family are so popular in China that the vision of having gamers playing online games everywhere is very tempting. According to NetDragon's want ad, 15 engineers will be employed for iPhone project. We have no idea if NetDragon is the first Chinese company interested in iPhone platform.
However, NetDragon's business model is not clear yet. All iPhone games will be downloadable on iTunes - the only official business platform. Revenue will be shared between Apple and developer. But how NetDragon be able to actualize standard online game business model like free-to-play or pay for time, still remains a question.
