BarCamp Shanghai Wrap-Up
Tags:
Pacific Epoch was thrilled to be a part of the first BarCamp in Shanghai last Sunday. About 60 people came out to the event held in Tudou's great new location. Here are some photos from the day.
BarCamp is a loose gathering of people, mostly from the IT industries, that are interested in sharing knowledge in a very open and interactive way. There are no fees, there is no set schedule and no one person runs things. Despite how this may sound, the event went surprisingly smoothly. Anyone can submit a request to lead a session, and users vote on when and where sessions will be held. Eighteen sessions were held on topics ranging from open source business models to extreme programming with Legos. If nothing else, BarCamp is a great chance to meet some interesting people.
Robert Scales and Crystal Williams at Raincity Studios and Kris Krug from Bryght came over from Vancouver to help put the event together, and Luyi Chen also played a big role in making BarCamp work.
If you missed BarCamp last weekend, don't worry, the next one is already being planned for March 2007.
