Customers To Sue Over Dell Chip Controversy
National Business Daily is reporting that the Shanghai consumers that were involved in the Dell laptop chip controversy plan to take their complaints to court this week and sue Dell for using an inferior chip in their Inspiron 640M notebooks. The report said that through July 2, 310 customers had complained to Dell about the problem. Beijing and Xi'an have also set up teams of lawyers to aid customers in sueing Dell. According to Dell's product description, Inspiron 640M notebooks use Intel's T2300 CPU, but the customers found that their PCs came with T2300E chips. Intel announced on May 25 that they would replace T2300 chips with T2300E chips, which lacks Virtualization (VT) and costs US$39 less.
