Sina And Tencent To Offer Paid Premier League Viewing

Sina (Nasdaq: SINA) and Tencent (0700.HK) signed contracts with Guangdong TV subsidiary Tiansheng (Shanghai) Digital Television Technology on August 9 to broadcast English Premier League content online. Starting August 11, Sina users can watch English Premier League matches on Sina's sports channel. Tencent users can use the company's peer-to-peer (P2P) online video platform QQ Live (tv.qq.com) to watch games. Sina and Tencent will charge 380 Yuan per year, 38 Yuan per month or 3.8 Yuan per match to watch English Premier League matches on their sites. Tiansheng paid US$50 million for the mainland China rights to English Premier League matches in May.
