China Railway Group Limited (601390.SH) vice president Bai Zhongren said the company will take part in the bid for the RMB220 billion Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway construction project, reports Oriental Morning Post. According to the report, China Railway Group will win at least 40 percent of the entire project. Construction is expected to start in mid-January, 2008, and take five years, said the report. Shares of China Railway Group rose 1.93 percent to close at 8.96 Yuan in Shanghai on Tuesday.
Aluminum Corporation of China Limited (Chalco) (601600.SH; 2600.HK) raised spot alumina prices by 10.53 percent on Tuesday to RMB4,200 per ton. Chalco shares rose 0.28 percent to close at 36.3 Yuan on the Shanghai Stock Exchange on Tuesday.
