A trademark violation lawsuit brought against Google's China subsidiary was dismissed on December 26 by Haidian People's Court in Beijing, reports Chinacourt.org. Beijing Gu Ge Technology sued Google China for trademark violation, claiming Google's Chinese name, "Gu Ge", is the same as the name of Beijing Gu Ge Technology. However, the suit was thrown out because it was established that Google China used the name "Gu Ge" on 12 April 2006, seven days before Beijing Gu Ge registered its name. Beijing Gu Ge claimed in the lawsuit that it had the rights to the name because Google's China subsidiary was not officially registered until 24 November 2006. Beijing Gu Ge Technology's primary business is an online shopping search service.
