The Shanghai Composite Index increased 0.78 percent to close at 5,361.6 on Friday, while the Shenzhen Composite Index rose 0.94 percent to close at 1,508.6. Trading volume on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges climbed sharply, reaching 145.5 billion Yuan and 76.3 billion Yuan, respectively.
Shares of Yunnan Copper (000878.SZ) and Jiangxi Copper (600362.SH) rose 10 percent and 8.17 percent to close at 60.06 Yuan and 55.59 Yuan, respectively, on Friday following a 3.2 percent rise in the price of copper for three-month delivery to US$6,970 per ton on the London Metal Exchange Thursday.
