Ministry of Information Industry (MII) director Wang Xudong said Monday that China's telecom restructure is moving forward, reports Beijing Times quoting Wang at the first session of the 11th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Wang, however, refused to provide details on the government's specific industry plan. Reorganization of the industry is expected to come in the form of China Telecom's (NYSE: CHA, 728.HK) acquisition of China Unicom's (NYSE: CHU, 762.HK, 600050.SH) CDMA business in late March, and the mergers of China Tietong into China Mobile (NYSE: CHL, 941.HK) parent China Mobile Communications Corp and China Netcom (NYSE: CN, 906.HK) into China Unicom this September, according to previous reports.
