Giant Interactive Breaks Up The Family For Internet Cafes

GA, Gaming, Giant Interactive, Giant Online, Internet, MMORPG, Online Game

Posted by: Cherry Zhang on Mar 21, 2008 | 20:03

Editorial Summary

Gamers of Giant Interactive's (NYSE: GA) in-house developed MMORPG Giant Online are irked by the "unfair" privilege Giant is offering Internet cafe-based gamers, reports Sohu citing Giant Online's official forum. Taking advantage of existing Internet cafe partners, Giant Interactive began pumping up cross-promotions in March to offer out-of-home gamers extras like additional experience points, free virtual items, and expedited leveling. Spring gamers are also distressed because Chinese Internet bars restrict entry to patrons 18 years and older.

Giant Interactive plans to add a marriage system, new virtual character status, and new virtual items to Giant Online when the game enters open beta on March 28.
