Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. (600019.SH) booked RMB191.6 billion in 2007 revenue, up 18 percent year-on-year, while net profit was down 2.75 percent year-on-year, the first drop since 2001, to RMB12.7 billion. Shares of Baoshan Steel fell 8.99 percent to close at RMB13.06 on Thursday.
China Life Insurance (China Life) (601628.SH, 2628.HK, NYSE: LFC) has been making some overseas investments in the finance industry recently due to relatively low valuation of assets, reports the Southern Metropolitan News citing the insurer's chairman Yang Chao. China Life's total return on investment grew 68 percent year-on-year in 2007. Yang said that China Life might submit a plan for additional financing in the future, but did not elaborate on timing, an amount to be raised or the use of additional funds, said the report. Shares of China Life fell 6.08 percent to close at RMB26.71 in Shanghai on Thursday.
