Community website Tianya Club (tianya.cn), Chinese BBS aggregator Daqi.com and other sites are facing a RMB 135,000 lawsuit from the husband of Jiang Yan, a blogger who became an Internet celebrity after committing suicide last December, reports Beijing Times. The husband, Wang Fei, is suing for reputation infringement in the Beijing Chaoyang District Court for the republication of Jiang's MSN blog, according to the report.
Wang claims the blog content, which implicates his love affairs as the reason for Jiang's suicide, and subsequent posts including his address have invaded his privacy. Wang said he lost his job because of the posts, and hopes the legal compensation will account for his lost wages. Tianya's legal representative said the site will not delete the user-generated content unless the court deems it necessary.
