The Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.56 percent to close at 3,347.9 on Wednesday, while the Shenzhen Composite Index slumped 3.71 percent to close at 980.3. Trading volume on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges shrunk to RMB 86.4 billion and RMB 35.1 billion, respectively.
