The Shanghai Composite Index rose 4.45 percent to close at 3,599.6 on Monday, while the Shenzhen Composite Index soared 6.14 percent to close at 1067.6. Trading volume on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges reached RMB 84.6 billion and RMB 37.7 billion, respectively.
Metal and mineral stocks were up sharply on Monday in Shanghai. Shares of Jiangxi Copper Company (600362.SH, 0358.HK), Aluminum Corporation of China Limited (Chalco) (601600.SH, 2600.HK, NYSE:ACH) and Western Mining (601168.SH) all rose by the daily limit of 10 percent to close at RMB 31.41, RMB 22.86 and RMB 25.63.
Taikang Life Insurance has started its preparations for listing, reports Sanxiang Metropolis Daily quoting company chairman Chen Dongsheng. The company will not introduce any strategic investors before listing, according to Chen. County and village markets counted for one-third of the company's total insurance revenue, said the report citing Chen. Previously reports said the insurer planned to go public in 2008.
