Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) has chosen US presidential candidate Barack Obama as the sixth face to grace its homepage logo. Following more general features including Hong Kong entertainers and snow storm survivors, Obama comes as Baidu's first foreign installment. In the drawing, a smiling Obama is joined by a dapper donkey as he throws a "net" over the Chinese portion of Baidu's logo.
The company provides a sampling of Baidu and iResearch search data on Internet fundraising, apparently 80 percent of Obama's campaign funding came from the web, and video views to back up its choice. Baidu began illustrating modern-day personalities into their homepage logo last November. The features are based on search popularity and Baidu "values".
