China Unicom (NYSE: CHU, 762.HK, 600500.SH) announced first quarter 2008 financials on Thursday. The company booked total revenue of RMB 25.49 billion, up 5.7 percent year-on-year, with GSM contributing RMB 16.26 billion and CDMA bringing in RMB 6.78 billion. Company profit was RMB 2.02 billion, compared to 4.19 billion in the fourth quarter of 2007, with basic earnings per share of RMB 0.148.
China Unicom reported an increase of 1.324 million GSM subscribers in March to reach 124.225 million users. Unicom's CDMA users were up 301,000 to 42.809 million subscribers by the end of last month.
