Update On Shanghai Outdoor Advertising Ban

Advertising, Chen Qiwei

Posted by: Cherry Zhang on May 05, 2008 | 18:05

Editorial Summary

Shanghai’s temporary ban on new outdoor advertising approvals that started April 24 is part of an effort to clean up the industry before the 2010 World Expo and follows a similar policy in Beijing for the Olympics, reports Caijing quoting Shanghai government spokesman Chen Qiwei on April 30. Chen said that there is too much outdoor advertising in Shanghai. New regulations for the industry will govern the size of ads and where they can be placed, said the report.
