Hong Kong financial news portal Finet (8317.HK) inaugurated its Shanghai-based game company China Game on Wednesday. China Game is expected to commercialize three in-house developed MMORPGs in 2008 on its interactive entertainment platform lyjoy.com and establish research and development centers in Chengdu, South China and North China in the near future. China Game plans to begin closed beta testing of its Three Kingdoms-based 3D MMORPG Warage on May 13. The company also intends to release 2D MMORPG Tang Dynasty II and kung fu MMORPG Swordsman-Plus this year and launch three to five new games in 2009.
Shanghai-based online game company T2CN founder Li Yanqing is heading up the new company. Finet acquired online game developer Hangzhou Tianchang Networks for RMB 200 million last May. Tianchang Networks has more than 200 developers on staff.
