Chinese telecom equipment provider ZTE (000063.SZ, 0763.HK) plans to invest over RMB 100 million promoting its handset brand in 2008, reports China Business News. All Chinese airlines are currently carrying advertisements for ZTE handsets, according to ZTE brand manager Wang Yong. ZTE is targeting the sale of 50 million handsets in 2008, said the report quoting a ZTE executive. ZTE U980 model handsets account for one-third of all TD-SCDMA handsets sold by China Mobile (NYSE: CHL, 941.HK), according to a ZTE employee cited in April reports.
