Solar cell manufacturer JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. (Nasdaq: JASO) reported first quarter results before market on Monday. The company recorded $160 million in revenue, up 234.8 percent year-on-year and 6.7 percent from the previous quarter. Net income was $22 million, compared to $8.3 million in the year-ago period and $14 million in the fourth quarter of 2007. The company shipped 51.4 MW in the period, compared to 50.2 MW in the previous quarter.
JA Solar maintains full year guidance of between $1.03 and $1.14 billion on production output of at least 340 MW. The company expects to begin production in new solar cell manufacturing lines in Ningjin and Yangzhou during the second half of this year.
