Telecom, Domain Operators Make Earthquake Exceptions

Sichuan subsidiaries of China Unicom (NYSE: CHU, 762.HK, 600050.SH), China Mobile (NYSE: CHL, 941.HK) and China Netcom (NYSE: CN, 906.HK) announced that they will not cut off service to subscribers that owe money on their accounts due to the earthquake that hit Sichuan's Wenchuan County on Monday, according to Guangzhou Daily and 163.com reports. China Netcom is giving away RMB 100 worth of calling fees to subscribers in the worst hit areas, said the 163.com report. China Telecom's (NYSE: CHA, 728.HK) Sichuan unit is offering free safety calls to subscribers.
China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) is providing a one month extension on .cn domain names that expire between May 13 and June 13.
