Chinese home appliance and electronics retailer Gome (0493.HK) began collecting used handsets and accessories in over 1,200 Gome stores nationwide on May 17, reports Beijing Times citing a company announcement. Consumers depositing their used products in Gome bins can receive RMB 50-100 towards the purchase of a new cell phone in Gome stores, said the report. Gome has partnered with the Beijing subsidiary of the Ministry of Industry and Information's (MII) designated handset recycling operator Shanghai Sequel Technologies Co., Ltd. for collection and recycling.
