Shanghai-based social networking service (SNS) site 51.com has partnered with 11 record companies including Taiwan's Ocean Butterfly Music Group Ltd to release celebrity platform "51 Celebrity", reports Sina. According to the report, the platform currently houses the official blogs and fan groups of 36 celebrities, and is targeting coverage of more than 100 celebrities by the end of this month. Ocean Butterfly CEO Li Peng said that Ocean Butterfly band By2 has recorded 1.4 million page views and over 100,000 new contacts on its official 51 Celebrity blog in one month of operation. 51.com intends to promote the new platform during a nationwide tour of an Ocean Butterfly artist beginning on June 15, said the report.
51.com currently has 50 employees on its game team and intends to expand to 100 employees in the future, reports Southcn.com quoting 51.com president Pang Shenglong. 51.com plans to begin alpha testing of a casual game platform in August.
