Shenzhen-based download accelerator and peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing software company Xunlei (Thunder) said that the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) has retracted its copyright infringement lawsuit against Xunlei, reports Guangzhou Daily. The Xunlei has filed a countersuit against MPAA, said the report. However, the report quoted MPAA lawyer Fu Guoqiang saying that the MPAA has not withdrawn its lawsuit against Xunlei, without providing any further information. There were reports in February that the MPAA had sued Xunlei.
Beijing-based online TV and movie site operator Jeboo (Jeboo.com) sued the MPAA in March over what it claims were false statements related to a previous legal battle, reports qq.com. The case will be heard by the Beijing Intermediate Court on June 30. The MPAA sued Jeboo for RMB 5 million for copyright infringement in November 2007. The companies later settled out of court, and the MPAA claimed that Jeebo apologized for the infringement and paid a large sum of money in compensation. Jeboo denies admitting to the copyright violation offense and paying compensation.
