Shanghai-based online game company Nineyou International Limited (9you) sent a letter from its attorney to Guangzhou Daily on June 20 asking Guangzhou Daily to apologize for a disparaging article about Nineyou's licensed online dancing game Audition on June 18. Nineyou said that the Guangzhou Daily's article about Audition was false, and is asking Guangzhou Daily to publish an apology in its own and other newspapers for three days following its receipt of Nineyou's letter. The article said that Audition was an unhealthy game and was filled with violence. The article also said Audition is the largest match-making institution in China. Nineyou also announced that it is offering a RMB20,000 reward for information about attacks to Audition server. Nineyou has been under fire since rumors began spreading that some people making insensitive remarks about the May 12 earthquakes were Audition gamers.
