The Shanghai Composite Index decreased 2.52% to close at 2,760.417 while the Shenzhen Composite Index sank 1.86 % to close at 779.94 on Monday. Trading volume on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges reached RMB 41.9 billion and RMB 21.234 billion, respectively.
Shares of Inner Mongolia Mengdian Huaneng Thermal Power Cooperation (600863.SH), Chongqing Three Gorges Water Conservancy And Electric Power (600116.sh), Huadian Energy Company (600726.SH) and Sichuan MinJiang Hydropower (600131.SH) soared 10.12%, 10.05%, 10.03% and 9.98%, after the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced an increase in electricity fees on June 21. China also raised gas prices by 17%. However, shares of PetroChina (601857.SH; 0857.HK; NYSE: PTR), and Shanghai Petrochemical (600688.SH) and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec Corp.) (600028.SH, 0386.HK, NYSE: SNP), Nanjing Tanker Corporation (600087.SH) sank 3.15%, 4.97%, 8.89% and 10.0% respectively.
