Software and online game company Kingsoft Corporation Ltd. (3888.HK) announced this week that it will discontinue operation of its 2D Q-style advanced casual game "Stone Age 2" on August 2 due to copyright problems. Kingsoft's Beijing Wayi developed the game illegally based on "Stone Age", a game it had licensed from Japanese developer JSS, reports 163.com. JSS won a copyright lawsuit against Wayi, the Beijing unit's Taiwanese parent, last month, said the report. As a result of the court ruling that was nearly five years in the making, Wayi discontinued operation of the game in Taiwan on July 3, according to the report. Kingsoft plans to announce a compensation plan for Stone Age 2 gamers soon. Kingsoft released Stone Age 2 in mainland China on March 11, 2006.
