Shanghai-based outdoor LCD advertising company Digital Media Group (DMG) announced on July 16 that it is expanding beyond subways into public bus waiting areas. DMG is partnering with a subsidiary of state-run media company Shanghai Media and Entertainment Group (SMEG) to install plasma displays at more than 800 bus stops in Shanghai. The displays will include bus route information, news, weather, and other information. The first DMG-powered bus shelters were rolled out on July 1. DMG's press release said the bus stop network adds 5 million passengers to DMG's overall coverage. DMG runs flat screen advertising networks in subways in Shanghai, Tianjin, Beijing, Nanjing, Shenzhen, and Chongqing. Check previous Pacific Epoch interviews with DMG executives here and here.
