Shanghai-based online game company Nineyou International Limited (9you) announced on Wednesday that it has been named the official online gaming partner of World Expo 2010, reports Sina. Nineyou intends to display its in-house developed 3D interactive online community "Gtown" at the event complete with a virtual map of the Shanghai World Expo. The company has spent tens of millions of Yuan and two and a half years developing Gtown, according to the report.

Nineyou has invested nearly half of its development resources on creating communities in its online games and hopes to recruit 40 million virtual community members over the next two to three years, reports Sina quoting Nineyou president Wang Zijie from the China Digital Entertainment Summit Forum, a part of ChinaJoy, on Wednesday.
