General Administration of Press and Publications (GAPP) digital and online publishing products department vice director Kou Xiaowei encouraged the Chinese online game industry to do more than develop individual games at the China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference (ChinaJoy) on July 18. Kou said Chinese online game enterprises should focus on developing universal platforms and online communities as well as enhance game-related services. The government official also suggested venture capital firms encourage domestic development by placing their investments in small- and medium-sized game developers.
