Posted by: Jessica Jin on Jul 23, 2008 | 16:07

Editorial Summary

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) intends to take the control of wireless value-added service providers (SP) back from mobile operators, reports China Communications. According to an MIIT insider, government departments will utilize technology-based methods to interface with SPs. Previously entrusting operators with the regulatory role, the MIIT has already called upon a portion of its own local communication management bureaus to manage SPs via corporate instant messaging (IM) services, said the report.
