Chinese telecom and security software and solutions provider AsiaInfo Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: ASIA) released second quarter 2008 results after market close on Wednesday. Total revenue for the company was $42.1 million, up 42.2% year-on-year and 20.1% from the previous quarter. AsiaInfo net income rose 109% year-on-year to $5.2 million for the second quarter.
Third party hardware revenue soared 149% year-on-year to exceed $7.8 million, while revenue from software products and solutions was $30 million, up 34% year-on-year, and service revenue was $4.2 million, an increase of 5% percent from the corresponding period of 2007. The company's Lenovo-AsiaInfo business unit contributed 12.6% of total revenue in the quarter, compared to 14.6% in the year-ago period.
AsiaInfo expects third quarter non-GAAP net revenue between $39 million and $40 million with net income from continuing operations per basic share of between $0.13 and $0.14.
