Sohu (Nasdaq: SOHU) will continue working on its Sogou blog, space and search services going forward, but has no current plans to enter the e-commerce industry, reports China Business Times quoting Sohu CEO Charles Zhang. Zhang called business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce models nothing more than advertising and networking platforms for small businesses saying that a real B2B industry does not exist in China. As for business-to-consumer (B2C) and consumer-to-consumer (C2C) forms, Zhang failed to see any clear representations. The chief executive officer said B2C is not "real" e-commerce, while C2C structures are just ways to help people sell things.
B2B e-commerce company Alibaba.com (1688.HK) opened its fourth functional overseas office in Taipei on Thursday. Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) is expected to officially release its C2C platform by year end.
