10B SMS Messages Sent During Chinese New Year
Over 10 billion SMS messages were sent in China during the Chinese New Year holiday from February 8 to February 15, Xinhua News reports. During the 2004 Chinese New Year holiday, 9.8 billion SMS messages were sent. SMS interoperability between China Telecom and China Netcom's Little Smart (PHS) users and China Mobile and China Unicom's mobile users has become a new area for growth in SMS. SMS between China Netcom's PHS users in ten northern Chinese provinces and Beijing were free during the Chinese New Year.
