China UnionPay Launching Customized Payment Phones

China UnionPay will begin promoting a new fixed-line phone payment service called "Zhi Fu Yi" nationwide, reports The First. The service requires users to purchase a new telephone that allows users to swipe their UnionPay cards to pay bills and other purchases. The machines cost 700 Yuan, said the report. The new service is run by UnionPay subsidiary Shanghai Cardinfo. UnionPay signed an agreement with e-commerce company Dangdang to cooperate on the Zhi Fu Yi service on August 1.
