Rumor: Alibaba to Acquire Koubei

Chinese business to business (B2B) company Alibaba has acquired Hangzhou based consumer information portal Koubei.com for US$5 to $6 million, according to a rumor reported by Techweb.com.cn. Yahoo China's portal added a link to Koubei's website on October 26. Alibaba public relations department employee Tao Ran denied the acquisition rumor but admitted the two companies have a cooperation agreement. Koubei currently has over 800,000 registered users.
