Tencent (0700.HK) denied on June 1 that its instant messaging (IM) tool QQ piggy-back installs toolbars of its search engine Soso, reports Sohu. Market Daily reported on June 1 that anti-virus software Kaspersky recently labeled QQ as malware because Tencent piggy-backs Soso toolbar with its QQ client. The report also said that Tencent added a software in QQ to block other search websites, including those from Baidu (Nasdaq:BIDU) and Yahoo. Kaspersky later apologized for mistakenly labeling QQ as malware. Tencent also claimed that the Market Daily report was written by a public relations company that works for one of Tencent's competitors. Tencent plans to sue the competitor and the PR company.
