Game Companies Venerate Victims, Postpone Play

Online game companies including Shanda (Nasdaq: SNDA), The9 (Nasdaq: NCTY), Tencent (0700.HK), Kingsoft Corporation Ltd. (3888.HK), Giant Interactive (NYSE: GA), Nineyou International Limited (9you), NetEase (Nasdaq: NTES), NetDragon (8288.HK), Perfect World (Nasdaq: PWRD), Sohu (Nasdaq: SOHU), and Oak Pacific Interactive's online community Mop.com have closed all of their online games for three days in accordance with the government's call for nationwide mourning. The games will resume operation at 1:00 A.M. on May 22.

On Sunday, the Chinese government released the mandate that all public amusements be suspended for three days out of respect for earthquake victims beginning Monday, May 19, reports Xinhua.
