China Urban Unemployment at 4.2% in H1
China's registered urban unemployment rate stood at 4.2% at the end of the first half of 2010, roughly flat from the end of the first quarter of the year, although the number of people registered as unemployed fell by 80,000 in the three months from the end of March to 9.11 million by the end of June, China Business News reports citing Ministry of Human Resources and Social Securities spokesperson Yin Chengji on July 23. In the first six months of 2010, China added 6.38 million new jobs in urban areas, equal to 71% of its full year target of 9 million, according to the report.
