Hang Seng Index Rally Continues; Property Cos Slip

The Hang Seng Index gained 0.56% to close at 21,091.18 on Wednesday, July 28, in main board trading turnover of HK$62.47 billion. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index increased 0.35%.

Banks climbed Wednesday, with HSBC Holdings (NYSE:HBC, LSE:HSBA, 0005.HK) surging 2.6%, Agricultural Bank of China (1288.HK, 601288.SH) climbing 1.99% and China Construction Bank (0939.HK, 601939.SH) up 0.76%.

Airliners performed strongly, with China Eastern Airlines (0670.HK, 600115.SH), Cathay Pacific Airways (0293.HK) and China Southern Airlines (NYSE:ZNH, 1055.HK, 600029.SH) up 5.03%, 2.83% and 2.54%, respectively.

Real estate companies edged down, however, with Midland Holding (1200.HK) slumping 3.89%, Hang Lung Group (0010.HK) slipping 0.98% and China Resources Land (1109.HK) down 0.24%.
