GAPP Official: Game Rev to Grow 30% in '10
China's online game industry is expected to maintain a 30% growth in sales revenue year-on-year in 2010, while in-house developed game revenues are expected to climb by more than 50%, Techweb.com.cn reported July 28 citing the General Administration of Press and Publication's (GAPP) Vice Director Sun Shousan. The sector's sales revenue reached RMB 25.6 billion in 2009, with in-house developed games contributing 64.5%, the report said citing Sun. Overseas market sales revenue hit $109 million, and is expected to exceed $200 million this year, according to the report.
GAPP will speed up the release of online game approval procedures and inspection criteria, specifying supervision measures for new expansions, new versions, small games, game co-operations and operation rights protection, Sun said in the report. The agency will also push game companies to require real-name registration, extending supervision to mobile games and other new game platforms, Sun said.
