GCL-Poly Eyes 3GW Wafer Capacity
Hong Kong-based polysilicon producer and power plant operator GCL-Poly Energy Holdings (3800.HK) plans to invest an additional $300 million in a silicon wafer production capacity expansion of roughly 1GW, the company announced July 28. The latest expansion will bring the company's total investment in wafer production facilities to around $1 billion while its total capacity will reach around 3GW, the report said.
GCL-Poly previously said it expects to expand its total wafer capacity to 2GW by the end of October this year.
