Shanghai Sends 244M SMS Messages On New Year's Eve

China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 941.HK) subsidiary Shanghai Mobile and China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 762.HK) subsidiary Shanghai Unicom recorded 244 million SMS messages on New Year's Eve, up 34 percent year-on-year, reports Shanghai Youth Daily. About 194 million of the messages were sent through Shanghai Mobile. Shanghai currently has 15 million handset users.
