Sichuan province, the site of the May 12 earthquake, is a key market for online game operators. Based on government figures, 6% of the country’s total online gaming community lives in Sichuan, largely in Chengdu, the provincial capital. That said, not all games fared poorly in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake, even in Sichuan. However, the government's imposition of three days of mourning has had a detrimental impact on online gameplay in China.
