Most online games in Asia have been inspired by Diablo and Diablo II, both of them action role-playing games that usher the player through monster-ridden realms of their apocalyptic fantasy worlds. In June, Blizzard Entertainment – now a part of Activision Blizzard (Nasdaq:ATVID) – announced the roll-out of Diablo III, the latest addition to a franchise that it says has sold more than 18 million copies worldwide. Though only 20% of the game has been completed, according to Gamespot, it’s not too early to speculate how Diablo III could perform in the Chinese market, given its clear superiority in graphic sophistication and exhilarating battle intensity compared to Chinese games.
