Comtec to Ship 650MW Wafers in 2011

Comtec Solar (0712.HK) has signed 200MW in new wafer supply agreements for 2011, bringing its expected shipments next year to 650MW, the company reported September 9. Comtec has agreed on consignments of 50MW of monocrystalline wafers to each of GinTech Energy Corporation (3514.TW), Jetion Solar Holdings (LSE:JHL), Astronergy parent company CHINT Group and Neo Solar Power (3576.TW), in addition to its contracted deliveries of 150MW to each of Suntech Power Holdings (NYSE:STP), JA Solar (Nasdaq:JASO) and China Sunergy (Nasdaq:CSUN), the report said...

   

GCL-Poly Wins RMB 21b Wafer Deal

Hong Kong-based polysilicon producer and power plant operator GCL-Poly Energy Holdings (3800.HK) has secured an agreement to supply photovoltaic products provider Hareon Solar Technologies with wafers for three years in a deal worth with a total worth RMB 20.8 billion, GCL-Poly announced September 3.

At the end of August, GCL-Poly announced it had extended its wafer supply agreement with Taiwanese solar company DelSolar (3599.TW).

   

Canadian Solar Q2 Profits Hit $3m

Photovoltaic (PV) products manufacturer Canadian Solar (Nasdaq:CSIQ) reported net income of $3.22 million, or $0.07 per diluted share, in the second quarter of 2010, compared with net income in the first quarter of $1.5 million and profits of $17.67 million in the second quarter of last year.

The company's second quarter revenues came to $328.68 million, compared with $336.93 million in the previous quarter and $114.18 million in the same period last year, according to the report...

   

LDK Sues Canadian Solar for Default on 800MW Contract

LDK Solar (NYSE:LDK) has filed a lawsuit demanding compensation from Canadian Solar (Nasdaq:CSIQ) for the breach of a 10-year supply contract signed in 2008, LDK announced September 1. Under the agreement, LDK planned to supply 800MW of solar wafers to Canadian Solar through 2018, with roughly 40MW shipped in 2009 and 80MW annually from 2010 onwards, according to a Canadian Solar announcement in June 2008...

Zhonghuan Inner Mongolia Plant Starts Production

Zhonghuan Solar completed the first phase of its Inner Mongolia monocrystalline silicon plant which went into production on August 18, reported solarbe.com August 19.

The project requires a total investment of RMB 2.5 billion to RMB 3.5 billion and is divided into four phases, with construction on the first phase having started May, 2009, according to the report.
