Yum! to Open 1st Pizza Hut in Lanzhou, Gansu

Yum! Brands (NYSE:YUM) signed an agreement with the Lanzhou Bureau of Commerce in western China's Gansu Province to open the first Pizza Hut in the city, Lanzhou Morning Post reported September 8. Yum! plans to invest RMB 50 million in Lanzhou and open 5 to 6 KFC restaurants in the city over the next two years, according to the report.

In June 2010, KFC agreed to raise its minimum wage for workers in Shenyang, Liaoning province to RMB 900 following demands by Shenyang Municipal Trade Union.

Gome Holiday Season Procurement Bill Hits RMB 30b

Home appliances and electronics retailer Gome (0493.HK) has put in orders with home appliances manufacturers for RMB 30 billion worth of goods in preparation for the Mid-Autumn Festival (at the end of September this year) and the early October National Day holidays, qq.com reports.

Gome recorded revenues of RMB 24.87 billion in the first half of this year, increasing 21.55% on an annual basis.

Wangfujing Department Store to Release Sub-brand "hQ"

Beijing Wangfujing Department Store (Group) (600859.SH) is launching a sub-brand "hQ" with a 45,000 square-meter store in Beijing on September 16, reports Beijing Morning Post on September 7.

The company targets consumers ages 18 to 35 with hQ, according to the report.

Wangfujin has opened 22 stores in 15 cities in China and has annual revenue of RMB 15 billion, according to the report.

Sportswear manufacturer and retailer Peak Sport Products' (1968.HK) Q1 and Q2 same store sales (SSS) growth stood at 15.3% and 12.5%, respectively, year-on-year, reported Sina September 1.
